Google set to take on Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo as it introduces the 'Yeti' gaming platform. According to reports Google is developing a game streaming service with the code name Yeti, It is compatible with Chromecast device, or a new Google-made console. Its users can play streamed games, instead of downloading them.

At the Game Developers Conference in March, Google had a meeting with big video game companies and took meetings at E3 in Los Angeles to see level of interest in the platform Reports have been gathering around the development of a subscription-based game streaming service by Google, but secret meetings at recent conferences are raising suspicions it could be released soon. This service, with the code-named Yeti, would push Google to the forefront of a new part of the video gaming business that allows users to play streamed games, rather than using downloads or disks. A report revealed that there was a meeting between the firm and big video game companies in March at the game developers conference and also meeting at the E3 gaming expo held in Los Angeles a few weeks past, it claimed.

It is believed that Google is buying games development studios to help with this plans.Yeti can played on Chrome ast or on a console made by Google, for big developers such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo this would be a big competition. Google plans to use its cloud servers for game broadcast to users over the internet. Cloud servers would be used for this service rather than to download or install them using CDs. The yeti gaming service would put Google in a head-to-head clash with companies that offered similar services such as Xbox One, Play Station Now and Nintendo Switch. According to Kotaku Google had several meetings at the Electronic Entertainment Expo held in Los Angeles last month. Also according to sources Google is not only wanting to draw game developers to the platform but to buy them out and their game development studios entirely.

The report says the firm has developed several loops of Yeti so far, as it is discussing the project with very experienced game developers. The firm employed the gaming veteran Phil Harrison who has worked with Microsoft and Sony in January to head a division which the company is yet to disclose. This isn't the first time Google has shown interest in the gaming business. As at 2014, the company reportedly planned to buy a live streaming video platform popular with gamers before Amazon beat them to it known as Twitch. Also in 2016, Google revealed its Daydream VR headset which cost $79 but only worked with pixel phones, this was part of an effort to make virtual reality more affordable. Later, Google revealed and updated version of the headset, which was compatible with far more devices. The updated Daydream View headset revealed in 2017 worked on Google Pixel, Google Pixel 2, Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ & Note 8, Moto Z & Z2 and cost $99. No information has been released by the firm concerning the pricing for Yeti

But by comparison, PlayStation Now currently plays at $18.27 a month while Nvidia's GeForce Now goes for $10.53 per month so we are expecting Google's yeti to around the $11 to $20 price range.
