As we all know Microsoft rarely reveals statistics about its Xbox community world wide. Although we also do know that there are about 52 million monthly active users worldwide of the Xbox Live services, and that the company's total revenue in the sector rose by 7% for this year, yes! thanks to Microsoft's Q3 FY2017 report.





Nevertheless, from Windows Central's Jez Corden whom has managed to obtain some very important internal Microsoft documents which reveal that some interesting statistics about Xbox One owners in the United States of America.



However, the data for the report has been collected from over 2,000 active Xbox One owners spread throughout and around the United States of America. Perhaps, some of the more interesting statistics obtained have been summarized as shown below:


  • 42% of Xbox One gamers have a household income of about $50,000 - $99,999. While 7% earn below a household income of $15,000.
  • 53% Xbox One gamers tend to socialize more, spending more than 17 hours a week on multiplayer Xbox One games, and having four times as many friends than the average user.
  • 49% of all surveyed Xbox One gamers focus more on "exploring" Xbox One games, and play an average of 15 titles per year.
  • 31% of Xbox One gamers are achievement hunters, having a gamer score two times more than other users.
  • 58% of Xbox One owners are male, whereas 42% are female in gender.
  • 51% of Xbox One gamers are of 25-44 years old. Thus, on the other hand, only 28% are 13-24 years old of age, so the average age of Xbox One gamers is 33 years old of age.
  • 45% of surveyed Xbox One gamers live with their loved spouses, whereas 23% of Xbox One gamers live at home with their parents.


Finally, Microsoft also surveyed over 8,000 Xbox One gamers to see what motivated them to play games. Surprisingly, the answers ranged from "exploration/discovery" to as far as "escape". So, it is very important to know that data has been generally obtained through surveying Xbox One gamers in the United States of America only, and may not accurately depict the global situation worldwide as the case may be. So with this said, it certainly and clearly highlights several interesting facts about Microsoft's gaming community and provides answers as to why the company Microsoft focuses on certain features such as the Clubs, Arena, and Xbox Play Anywhere.
