Latest : WhatsApp Bringing Back Written Status Style After Snapchat Story Clone Replace

Just few weeks ago, The well known social app WhatsApp replaced the ability for it users to set a text-based in-app status with the Snapchat Stories clone status style. After a while users backlashes on the new implementation, Whatsapp will soon be is re-adding the ability for users to set an availability status through the About section of the messaging app (WhatsApp), according to a genuine report from TechCrunch.

Just like the famous Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Facebook’s regular app, the WhatsApp version of Snapchat stories style status allows users to easily post their pictures and videos that will disappear after 24 hours as the case may be. However, WhatsApp hoped that the picture and video stories style status would serve a similar function as the text-based statuses as well, but apparently users felt differently. The new About Status “will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info.”

Nevertheless, there is probably a lesson to be learnt here which is sticking to the things that users like about your app and not just running after the current popular trending things that your competitors are doing or indulging in, but given the industry’s pace of copying features from each other, it is doubtful that anyone is actually going to learn anything from this.

In a statement to TechCrunch, the social media app WhatsApp noted that the new About Status feature should be rolling out to all Android users in the next week, and as well to iOS users very soon. So watch out Android and iOS Users!
